Here’s what to expect for your first class!
To start all you need is MMA Gloves. If you don’t have your own, we have rentals available in our Proshop for $5. We also have a fully stocked proshop (https://asdproshop.com). We recommend wearing comfortable workout close, exercise shoes, and a water bottle.
We run our Krav Maga classes at the Academy of Self Defense, in Santa Clara, California. You can use google maps to estimate your drive to time to ASD at 3475 Woodward Avenue, Santa Clara, Ca 95054.

We strive to make it as easy as possible for you to attend Krav Maga classes at the Academy of Self Defense! There is no need to make an appointment or register before your class. All you need to do is show up 10-15 minutes prior to the class you want to start. You can view the full schedule, here.
We’ve all been there before, we get stuck in our routines, it’s a busy day at work, and you rush to the gym right after you and end up forgetting your gym clothes or shoes— don’t let that happen! We’ve found sometimes it’s easier to pack your gym back the night before and put it in the trunk, or right by your shoes in the mornings.
We don’t want you to feel rushed when you get here, so give yourself some time to get here to arrive 10-15 minutes before the class starts. This will give you enough time to find parking, get dressed, and get situated at the front desk.
There will be physical activity in class, so it’s best to not eat a burger from In & Out or that Burrito from La Vic’s 10 minutes before the class. If you do find yourself hungry before class, try a small protein bar or small piece of fruit to tide you over.
